How we began
The ministry was birthed in 2004 when the Lord planted I.T.S.-H.U.H. Ministry in my heart. At that time it was HUH Ministry. It wasn’t until during a time of incarceration in 2007 that He quickened me to begin outreach as soon as I was released. To reach out to the homeless, the lost and those walking in darkness and bondage, like I once was. A month after I was released and settled, I was first moved to feed those in need from the front yard of my home in the 2nd Ward of Houston TX. The only fee required for a plate of food was that they allow me to pray for their needs. However, if they refused prayer, they still received food. In 2009 we moved into a building just east of downtown Houston @ 4022 Navigation Blvd. A city block away from my home. That location was a vision that came to me, Evangelist Roland Nava andSr Pastor Rudy Matamoros (The Redeemer Church). It led to bigger outreaches at parks, parking lots, other churches and feeding many of the homeless in the area and those just passing through .
At the same time in 2009 we started our non-profit ministry in Houston TX also. We reached out to the lost, homeless and those bound by addictions. We packed-up once a month and headed to the streets and parks to evangelize the Word of God. Not only did we feed spiritually, we also fed physically. Upon occasion we were abundantly blessed to provide gently used clothing and/or a few pantry groceries. The ministry grew rapidly for our obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ, all glory be to God alone. Then came a rehabilitation home for men and shortly after, for women who wanted to change direction in their lives with our Lord Jesus Christ.
In June of 2012, I heeded to the Lord’s calling and traveled towards Austin TX. HE directed me to stop at several churches along the way to share that the Lord wanted to bring revival to their small city. All either rejected or ignored the spirit. In my journey along E Hwy 290, in McDade TX, HE allowed me to see an 8 ½” x 11” paper sign from the highway! It only read “CHURCH HERE”. I immediately pulled in and dialed a number provided. Pastor Lucio Leal answered saying he was in Bastrop TX at the moment. Little did I know where that was located. But when I stated to him what the Lord had sent me for, without delay he said, “wait there, I am on my way”. He arrived in a moments time. Needless to say, what the Lord had spoken to me, at the end of Nov 2012 the Lord brought a revival to Elgin TX. During the revival many men of God professed that Elgin needed an outreach to help those lost in homelessness and addictions.
Mid 2013 “the cloud moved” and the Lord relocated the ministry to Elgin TX (405 N Main St, 78621).
August 26, 2013 the new doors opened and the blessings continued pouring in.
May 19, 2014 again the ministry was moved to open a "soup kitchen", also in Elgin TX; however that location was purchased by a private entity in 2015.
September 30, 2014, heeding to the call of the Lord, Open Door Soup Kitchen (ODSK) was birthed in Bastrop TX at 906 Chestnut St.
November 2014, our men's recovery home was installed into the ministry. Men At The Cross Shelter/Home (MATC). Our home for men seeking to change their lives through Jesus Christ through our one year faith based program.
September 30, 2016 we relocated to a larger facility that is located on our OWN property, at 987 N SH 95, Bastrop TX 78602.
Today We operate 8 SAFE Family Emergency Shelters (SAFE Safe Acre Family Environment), with two more under construction along with an additional shower house. Intended for FAMILIES, that is parent(s) with children in their care, in need of temporary refuge due to set backs.
We encourage those who are hungry to come in for breakfast (9:00-10:30 AM), lunch (12-2 PM) or a snack throughout the day (click here for hours). At the same time, we reach out to those who are hurting to come in for prayer and/or encouragement. In addition, resource leads are available to those needing assistance or basic health screening. With HIM, ALL things are possible, hallelujah. And in this, ALL glory goes ONLY to God our Father, Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Today I testify to all, what HE did and continues to do for me, HE WILL & CAN do for you!
